Super boot, comfortable enough to wear away from living history. Hob nails skidded on marble floors, so have a 2nd pair with rubber soles.

  2. Karl

took the rubberised sole option, by far and away the most magnificent boot I’ve had/worn! love them, treasure them! handle the rugged terrain down under superbly…. thanks WL for reproducing these B5 beauties!

I love my B5 boots and so happy I decided to purchase from William Lennon. From placing my order to completed boots the service is impeccable. please please don’t be tempted to go for the cheaper options on the net. I am now considering placing an order for a pair of smart casual boots as showed to me by Libs.
    Thank you all

I never usually write a review but felt that I just had to for these.
Have been wearing them non stop for the last two days and must say they are probably the most comfortable boots I have worn and without an insole! The boots weigh more than your typical off the shelf hiking/ ankle boot but I imagine this is due to the robust construction and quality thick leather used. I can honestly see these lasting for years to come. The pictures on the website do not do these boots justice as they are simply superb in the way they look and how they have been put together. I’m in the process of ordering a pair of derby boots but now may end up getting another pair of these as well, not because I need two pairs of B5s but simply because it is an absolute bargain for what you get for the price.
Hats off to the amazing cobblers at William Lennon and for Libs help in choosing the right size. I believe I won’t be buying another pair of boots/ shoes from anywhere else.

    These boots are amazing!
They are tough but wonderfully comfortable, being thick leather they do require a bit of breaking in to be at their most comfortable, but its worth it. Most modern boots with foam and plastic get more uncomfortable over time and then fall apart, these just get better. I liked them so much i now have three pairs (i have bought 1 per year), and because you can customize them they are all different. My first pair i got with the hobnails just as standard, these were great fun but if you wear then just around on modern surfaces they can be quite slippery and noisy so be aware of this. But the beauty of a proper boot makers is you can have them resoled, so i had a full vibram sole and they are amazing as a day to day boot, they look even better on than in the pictures. I have a smooth outer brown pair i wear for best with a two piece rubber sole, and they look great! And a pair almost as standard but the the upper smooth out, these are great too.
You will not regret buying these boots, i can 100% recommend them!

Without a doubt one of the best pair of boots i own, although the standard flat nails seem to be very soft and break easily. Not a hard fix with new nails. i am wearing these and my ammo boots as all season hikers and they work amazing.

Wow, these are very good boots. Good fit too.

Cracking boot. Got a pair with rubber half soles. I’d be warned the break-in is pretty rough, even in big socks I got chaffing around my ankle bones and heel but after a month or so of wearing them a little every day they fit like a glove. The rough out leather is super tough and brushes up nicely with a bit of dubbin. It looks like it will age very nicely too. The thick sole takes a bit of time but once it flexes where it needs to it’s great.

The wide toe box is awesome, this is the only pair of boots I’ve owned that are remotely wide enough at the front, beautiful.

All in, love these. Will pick up another pair eventually I think with a lugged sole as the plain rubber soles are a bit slippy on anything other than tarmac, but I got these as city boots for the winter so they are perfect for the job.

Short form: excellent boots. I fully intend on wearing them until they’ve worn through, will certainly purchase another pair when these are irreparable, and have recommended them to colleagues.

Long form: I opted to purchase a pair of B5 boots a little over a year ago, and use them as my daily work boots. After nearly a year, an estimated 2,180 miles of work related wear as a landscaper and arborist six days out of the week, I have developed a deep respect for and trust in the quality of these boots. Of the two sets of boots I own, these are the ones I turn to.

I have been anything but kind to these boots. They have been covered in salt-marsh silt, riverbed clay, compost, chicken waste, loam, mud, sawdust, lawn clippings, stonedust, and brick mortar. Waterlogged in the harbor, greenhouse, flooded basements; salt water, fresh water, fertilized mixtures, and grey water. They have withstood my mistreatment, continue to do so, and shall remain in service until they’ve completely fallen in.

I’ve replaced near all of the hobnails at this point with ones I could source locally; I’ve only changed the laces once. Both heel plates are “cloven” now due to wear, one outsole has a fissure from a work incident (only going two layers deep), and the welt is only just starting to wear through at the toes. I would wager they’ll last a year more before falling in, assuming I don’t re-sole them or change my treatment.

I have full intention of purchasing replacements for these boots one day. With another pair of the same. While there are far more “suitable” boots for my profession, suitability is subject to perference, and I have developed a preference for these.
