I put these shoes on for the first time and they felt like I’ve been wearing them for years so comfortable

Here is my review of the custom 157R version of hill shoes:
Got a pair of custom 157R hill shoes about half a year ago, now I have used them enough, with great joy, to give a proper review. First impressions: Wow, these are looking good, and the finish and the build quality is impeccable! The leather is supple, they even smelled good. With skillful and service minded help from Libs Slattery I had settled on these customizations; black Virginia hide, army semi sprung last, and no tongue overlay, for urban use.
At 850g per shoe, they are substantial, but on the foot the weight is really not noticeable, they are just sturdy and well-built shoes. Initially the soles felt quite stiff, but not uncomfortable. Breaking in the shoes took time: when having walked in them for 50 km I considered them broken in, and after maybe 100 km they seem even further broken in. When walking there is movement in the heel area, but not as much as to call it heel slip. The initial first half an hour of walking caused some mild chafing due to the movement, but this has not been an issue later. The only nitpick I have with the shoes is that the heels are quite hard, and there is limited room for cushioning insoles, before one´s heels get too high for the heels of the shoes, so walking really far and fast gets a bit too heavy for my heels. For daily walking around they are really super: comfortable and good looking.
The hill shoes have become my favorite everyday shoes. I am so pleased with the shoes that I ordered a pair of custom Derby boots not long after I got the shoes. Thanks to all at William Lennon & co for making outstanding footwear!
